Međugorje + Mostar - private trip

Međugorje became a famous holy place thanks to the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1981. Legend has it that on the hill of Podbrdo in Bosnia and Herzegovina (then in the former Yugoslavia), six young people saw the Virgin Mary, who introduced herself to them as Kraljica Mira - Queen of Peace. Since then, people from all over the world have come to the town to pray, confess, and seek healing of body and soul. In 2019, Pope Francis officially allowed the organization of pilgrimage tours to the city of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Before that, however, the Catholic Church was very cautious, so this marked a major shift in terms of recognizing the spiritual peace that people experience at this place. Today, a steep path leads to the apparition site, which perhaps symbolizes that the path to peace can be difficult. Visiting Međugorje is worth it. Even for those who do not come here for spiritual reasons. There is much more to this city and the amazing thing is that despite the number of tourists and pilgrims, there is still an immense peace here. Mostar, the city on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is not just the Old Bridge. For lovers of architecture, history, traditions and museums, as well as gastronomy and beautiful nature, it offers much more. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers. The beautiful bridge, that dominates Mostar, was built in 1566 by the order of Sultan Suleiman with the simple purpose of connecting the two sides and replacing the wooden chain bridge, is also a major landmark. In Mostar, however, you can also visit the Stari most Museum, Kriva ćuprija, Tabhana - a market with various souvenirs and clothes, Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, Karađoz Bey's Mosque - the largest preserved mosque in the city, but also Kajtaz's House - the oldest preserved turkish house. In addition, the Mostar Peace Bell Tower is definitely worth mentioning, from where you can enjoy a great view of the city.
